Rough River is the musical project of alternative country and folk artist Kate Skinner; quietly aching with tales of love gone by and a yearning for the natural world. Her work lending a certain looseness and grit that underpins folk in the old sense of the word - not as a set of readable signs, but as an act of communion. Kate’s second album ‘The Leaving’ features all of her own arrangements, with herself playing guitar, haunting Warren Ellis-esque violin warblings and mandolin. Kate also re-worked two folk traditionals for the album - bringing her live band in for her atmospheric and re-work of the century old gospel hymn 'Will The Circle Be Unbroken' - bringing it into the modern day with an incredible layered arrangement.
