Releases

We're so excited to welcome Taylah Carroll to our publishing family and represent her catalogue and songwriting for the world.

LISTEN

Taylah Carroll has always liked words. To listen to them, to think about them, to write them. It makes sense then, that Carroll’s lyrics are the centrepiece of her craft.

Hallmarked by commanding vocals and seamless transitions between vulnerability and strength, Taylah Carroll’s music is equal parts confessional indie-folk, and dreamy alt-rock. With stylistic echoes of Mazzy Star, and Angel Olsen, the singer-songwriter cites Tom Waits, Tori Amos, and Radiohead as key inspirations, the amalgamation of which have her leaning into nostalgia, with one foot always placed firmly ahead.

The release of the Melbourne based artist’s debut single Vermont, and woozy and dark sophomore, Sometimes Good People Do Bad Things, last year saw Carroll break much ground in the Melbourne Scene. Garnering much local radio praise, Triple J play, and charming punters with her emotive performances, powerful vocals and disarming honesty, Carroll embarked on a National Tour with Harrison Storm, and finished the year playing at numerous festivals across the state.

With producer Tim Harvey (Jade Imagine, Gena Rose Bruce) at its helm, Taylah Carroll’s latest single, I’m Not Sold, juxtaposes mild petulance with trepidation, and anxiety with self-assuredness, as it narrates the common terror of the quarter life crisis. Recorded at Soundpark Studios and accompanied by Jade Imagine frontwoman Jade McInally on bass, Tim Harvey on lead guitar, and Damian Meoli on drums, this third offering from the Melbourne based artist feels sonically larger and more expressive than its predecessors, but remains steeped in subtle nods to nostalgia, and idiosyncratic lyricism.
